How do you break up a long hallway?

Commercial facilities often have long, long hallways with little options to dress them up.  We see these in patient care units found in hospitals and assisted living centers.  You’ve likely seen the halls checkered with two tones VCT tiles or the neverending, continuous roll of sheet vinyl.  Or even the standby commercial glue-down carpet.

And since we all like to live and work in aesthetically pleasing and easy to care for places, what can be done to shake it up?

On one project, John Brown worked with management to create an eye appealing insert made of Teknoflor.  With heat welded seams and the extreme durability of the product, we were able to keep the house staff happy with simple to clean floors (no waxing!).  Mobile patients could easily maneuver their wheelchairs around.  And the staff were thrilled with how effortless it was to move food and medical carts, no matter where they were in the hall.   So consider inserts for your commercial flooring project to give new life to your facility.
